AFROCENTRIC GROUP APPOINTS AVSHARN BACHOO AS GROUP TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR
Johannesburg – South Africa's most diversified, black-owned health group, AfroCentric, is delighted to announce the appointment of Avsharn Bachoo as Group Technology Director, effective from 1 May 2022.
Bachoo is a technology strategist with over two decades of experience as a chief information officer and chief technology officer. Before joining AfroCentric Group, he was CIO at local airline Comair. He is well versed in digital transformation, software engineering, data analytics, machine learning, cloud computing, DevOps, and enterprise architecture.
Over the course of his career, Bachoo has implemented cutting-edge innovations at major banks and insurers, working with tech giants such as IBM, Microsoft and Google. He is also a published researcher and has contributed research to international scientific journals that have been referenced as case studies for successful digital transformation in several industry forums.
Bachoo holds a PhD in systems architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Master's in information systems from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Bachelor of Science Honours at Unisa and a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Natal.
AfroCentric Group CEO Ahmed Banderker welcomed Bachoo's appointment, saying his wealth of experience will add tremendous value to the Group’s digital transformation initiatives.
